We were recently shopping in the new community where we will be re-locating. I had my one-year old in my arm and I was attempting to pull a shopping cart out of the storage location in front of Safeway. Unfortunately, the child safety strap on the first one had been intertwined into the spokes of the second one. They were locked together and I couldn't free them with my one available arm. Within seconds two other shoppers were coming over to help with the cart. I know there are plenty of communities around this great country where people are helpful, but it's not the norm where I grew up. Especially when you are in a hurry and out running errands.
If we all took a cue from those kind people, I think we would see a huge improvement in the mood of this country. Instead of focusing on divisions and differences, just work to help a fellow human being out. The greatness of this country is in keeping it's small institutions strong. Our families, our local communities, our faith. When they are strong, our nation is strong. When they start to crumble, our nation begins to fray at the seams. I pray that we can have a renewal of faith and a strengthening of families, so that my children can grow up in a peaceful time where America still affords great opportunities to all.
